พื้นที่ 697.1 ตารางกิโลเมตร ยอดเขาสูงที่สุดคือ Bukit Timah แม่น้ำสายหลักคือ Singapore และ Rochor สิงคโปร์มีถนน และรถไฟเชื่อมกับมาเลเซีย ณ Singapore/Johor Causeway ระยะทางประมาณ 6 กม.

ประชากร 4.2 ล้านคน (ชาวจีน 76% ชาวมาเลย์ 13.7% ชาวอินเดีย 8.4% และอื่นๆ 1.9% ) ซึ่งอยู่กันโดยไม่มีปัญหา ความขัดแย้งด้านเชื้อชาติ นอกจากนี้สิงคโปร์ยังเป็นประเทศในเอเชียที่มีการวางแผนครอบครัวได้ดีมาก จนทำให้จำนวนประชากรลดลง และก่อให้เกิดปัญหาการขาดแคลนแรงงานในอนาคต

ภาษา ภาษาทางราชการ คือ ภาษามาเลย์ จีนกลาง ทมิฬ และอังกฤษ สิงคโปร์ส่งเสริมให้ประชาชนพูด 2 ภาษา โดยเฉพาะจีนกลาง ในขณะที่ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาที่ใช้ในการติดต่องานและในชีวิตประจำวัน

ศาสนา 51% นับถือศาสนาพุทธ ลัทธิเต๋าและขงจื๊อ 15% นับถือศาสนาอิสลาม 4% นับถือศาสนาฮินดู 15% นับถือศาสนาคริสต์ และร้อยละที่เหลือคือลัทธิอื่นๆ

สภาพภูมิอากาศ
ลักษณะภูมิอากาศของสิงคโปร์ คล้ายกับประเทศไทย คือ เป็นแบบร้อนชื้น ฝนตกชุกตลอดปีเนื่องจากอิทธิพลทางทะเลและที่ตั้งของประเทศ

เศรษฐกิจ
สิงคโปร์จัดอยู่ในกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมใหม่เช่นเดียวกับ ฮ่องกง ไต้หวัน และเกาหลีใต้ ผลิตภัณฑ์ส่งออกหลัก คือ ผลิตภัณฑ์จากปิโตรเลียม เครื่องจักร ผลิตภัณฑ์นำเข้าส่วนใหญ่ ได้แก่ พลังงาน ( 40% ของการนำเข้าทั้งหมด) และอาหาร นอกจากนั้น การท่องเที่ยวก็นำรายได้เข้าประเทศมากเช่นกัน

สังคม
ชาวสิงคโปร์ถือว่ามาตรฐานการครองชีพของตนดีกว่าประเทศอื่น แต่ขณะเดียวกันความกลัวในจิตใจ คือ กลัวความล้มเหลวกับกลัวการเสียเปรียบ

-หน่วยราชการของสิงคโปร์มีประสิทธิภาพและรวดเร็วในการทำงาน โดยมีเวลาทำงาน จันทร์-ศุกร์ 08.30-13.00 และ 14.00-16.30 น. และเสาร์ 08.00-13.00 น.
-การบริการทางการแพทย์ในสิงคโปร์แพงกว่าประเทศไทยมาก และการซื้อยารักษาโรคประเภทยาปฏิชีวนะและยาอันตราย จะต้องมีใบสั่งแพทย์ แต่ยารักษาโรคพื้นฐานสามารถหาซื้อได้ตามร้านขายยาทั่วไป

การศึกษา

ประเทศสิงคโปร์มีค่าใช้จ่ายถูกกว่าประเทศอื่น เช่น ออสเตรเลีย อเมริกา อังกฤษทั้งด้านการเรียน และ ค่าที่อยู่อาศัย ค่าตั๋วเครื่องบิน และยังสะดวกในการเดินทาง เนื่องจาก ประเทศสิงคโปร์อยู่ใกล้กับประเทศไทย โดยใช้ระยะเวลาการบินเพียง 2 ชั่วโมงเท่านั้น และนอกจากนี้ การที่ได้ไปศึกษาที่ประเทศสิงคโปร์ นักเรียนยังได้เรียนรู้ถึง 2 ภาษา ซึ้งมีภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาหลัก และสามารถเลือก ภาษาจีน,ภาษามาเลย์และทมิฬภาษาใดภาษานึ่งเป็นภาษารอง

การศึกษาในระดับประถมศึกษา (Primary Schools)
ระบบการศึกษาในระดับประถมศึกษาที่สิงคโปร์นั้นจะแบ่งการสอนออกเป็น 2 ช่วง คือ เช้า และบ่าย การรับสมัครนักเรียนใหม่จะขึ้นอยู่กับนโยบายของแต่ละโรงเรียน ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 – 4 (fouryear foundation stage) จะเน้นการเรียนในวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ, ภาษาจีน (แมนดาริน) หรือภาษาทมิฬ, คณิตศาสตร์ และวิชาอื่น ๆ เช่น ศิลปะ ดนตรี พลศึกษา ในการเรียนในชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 -6 (Two-year orientation stage) นักเรียนจะถูกแบ่งออกเป็น 3ระดับ จากผลการสอบของ ประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4 คือ EM1 EM2 EM3 โดยลักษณะการเรียนของวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ และภาษาแม่นั้นจะต่างกันนักเรียนจะต้องสอบวัดระดับเมื่อจบ ประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ที่เรียกกันว่า Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).เพื่อวัดระดับว่านักเรียนจะต้องเรียนในชั้นมัธยมเป็นระยะเวลา 4 ปี หรือ 5 ปี

การศึกษาในระดับมัธยมศึกษา(Secondary School)
โรงเรียนมัธยมศึกษาในสิงคโปร์จะแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ระบบและจะมีหลักสูตรแตกต่างกันไปทั้งนี้ นักเรียนจะถูกเลือกให้อยู่ระบบใดระบบหนึ่งนั้นขึ้นอยู่กับผลการสอบ PSLE ของนักเรียนแต่ละคน ระบบที่ใช้ระยะเวลา 4 ปี จะเรียกว่า Special and Express Courses ซึ้งการเรียนการสอนนั้นจะเน้นการเตรียมตัวให้นักเรียนสอบ The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education “Ordinary” (GCE ‘O’) ตอนจบมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 และ ระบบที่ใช้ระยะเวลา 5 ปี คือ Normal Course แบ่งการเรียนการสอนเป็น Academic และ Technical และเมื่อนักเรียนจบมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 นักเรียนจะต้องสอบ Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education “Normal”(GCE ‘N’)

สำหรับนักเรียนที่สอบได้คะแนนดี สามารถเรียนต่อ มัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 เพื่อสอบ GCE ‘O’ ต่อไป แต่สำหรับนักเรียนที่สอบได้คะแนน GCE ‘N’ ไม่ดี ก็สามารถเรียนต่อในทางด้านเทคนิค ITE. หลังจากนักเรียน จบการศึกษาในระดับมัธยมนักเรียนสามารถที่จะเลือกเรียนในขั้นอุดมศึกษาต่อไป

เตรียมเข้ามหาวิทยาลัย (Junior College หรือ Pre University)สำหรับนักเรียนที่ได้ผ่านการทดสอบ GCE ‘O’ Level เรียบร้อยแล้วและมีความประสงค์ที่จะเลือกเรียนต่อที่ Junior College ใช้ระยะเวลา 2 ปี หรือ หลักสูตรเตรียมเข้ามหาวิทยาลัย (Pre-university) ใช้ระยะเวลา 3 ปี เพื่อการเตรียมพร้อมสอบ GCE ‘A’ Level เมื่อสอบผ่านนักเรียนถึงจะสามารถเข้าเรียนต่อในระดับชั้นมหาวิทยาลัย หรือสามารถสมัครเรียนที่มหาวิทยาลัยต่างๆ ได้ทั่วโลก สำหรับนักเรียนที่สอบไม่ผ่าน GCE ‘A’ Level ก็สามารถที่จะเลือกเรียนต่อโปลีเทคนิค

โปลีเทคนิค (Polytechnics)
เป็นโรงเรียนเปิดสอนหลักสูตรวิชาชีพโดยมีสาขาให้เลือกมากมายอาทิเช่น วิศวกรรม, ธุรกิจ, สื่อสารมวลชน ฯลฯ สำหรับนักเรียนที่สำเร็จการศึกษาแล้วสามารถจบออกมาทำงานได้เลย โดยหลักสูตรนี้จะใช้เวลาเรียน 3 ปี

การศึกษาสำหรับสาขาวิชาช่าง Institutes of Technical Education (ITE)
เป็นโรงเรียนเปิดสอนหลักสูตรสาขาวิชาช่าง โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่ต้องการเพิ่มทักษะทางด้านการปฏิบัติและวิชาการ และสำหรับนักเรียนที่มีเกณฑ์คะแนนดี สามารถเลือกที่จะเข้าศึกษาต่อในโรงเรียนโปลีเทคนิค หรือมหาวิทยาลัยแล้วแต่ความประสงค์


ค่าครองชีพ
มาตรฐานคุณภาพชีวิตของสิงคโปร์อยู่ในระดับต้นๆของเอเชีย เทียบกับประเทศอื่นๆในตะวันตกแล้วค่าครองชีพที่สิงคโปร์นับว่าไม่สูงมากนัก ราคาสินค้าพื้นฐานอย่างอาหาร หรือเสื้อผ้าก็นับว่าสมเหตุสมผล

นักเรียนต่างชาติในสิงคโปร์มีค่าใช้จ่ายโดยเฉลี่ย 750 ถึง 2,000 เหรียญสิงคโปร์ ต่อเดือน ซึ่งอาจต่างกันไปตามไลฟ์สไตล์และหลักสูตรวิชาที่เลือกเรียนของแต่ละคน

กฎหมาย

การขอวีซ่า
